The international RIU chain was founded in Mallorca by the Riu family in as a small holiday firm and is still owned by the family's third generation.

With the inauguration of its first city hotel in , RIU is expanding its range of products with its own line of city hotels called Riu Plaza. The new hotel will be managed by local staff who have grown professionally in our Sal and Boa Vista hotels, and who are now at the stage where they can open and manage the various departments of this category of hotel.
